It is with great pleasure that we share the news of a recent success story with our client from India. After years of perseverance, our client’s asylum application has been expedited by USCIS, marking a significant milestone on their journey to safety and freedom from persecution.
On October 24, 2017, USCIS received the initial I-589 asylum application, which the client had courageously filed on his own. Recognizing the complexities involved, the client recently sought our legal representation to expedite his asylum case.
Our legal team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the asylum case to determine eligibility for our request to expedite. Subsequent discussions and reviews, including an examination of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents, paved the way for strategic planning and the identification of compelling reasons to expedite the application.
One of the pivotal factors prompting this request was the client’s urgent need to sell property in their home country of India, which was essential for their survival in the United States. However, the lack of official status in the U.S. hindered their ability to secure potential buyers, emphasizing the critical nature of expediting the asylum process.
With meticulous attention to detail, our team compiled a comprehensive packet of supporting evidence, including declarations from the applicant and his spouse, psychiatric reports documenting PTSD, notarized affidavits, proof of land ownership, and the applicant’s father’s death certificate. This robust compilation served as a compelling argument for expediting the asylum application based on severe financial loss and urgent humanitarian grounds.
We submitted the request to expedite on January 3, 2024.
On February 10, 2024, our efforts and our client’s perseverance paid off when USCIS approved the request to expedite the I-589 asylum application. As we celebrate this achievement, we remain committed to providing compassionate and effective legal representation to asylum seekers, empowering them to navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system with dignity and hope.
