Uber Ride Opens Pathway to Green Card

This is the inspiring story of a former Uber driver, now a naturalized U.S. citizen, and his wife who recently overcame the hurdles of immigration to build a life together in the United States.

It all started on New Year’s Day 2018 when our client, working diligently as an Uber driver, picked up his future wife as one of his passengers.

What began as a simple ride turned into the first chapter of their love story when our client, struck by the Beneficiary’s charm, mustered the courage to ask for her phone number.

The Beneficiary did not immediately respond to our client, but he remained persistent. This determination set the stage for a relationship that would stand the test of time. Their first date was in July 2019. Despite the challenges posed by busy schedules and life’s uncertainties, the couple made a conscious effort to see each other regularly.

In July 2020, the couple received exciting news – the Beneficiary was pregnant. Faced with the prospect of parenthood, they decided to take their commitment to the next level, tying the knot in February 2021 before the arrival of their baby.

As a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), our client took the next step in their journey by filing an I-130 Petition for Alien Relative for his wife in December 2021. Recognizing the importance of presenting a comprehensive case, our legal team submitted a range of documents, including joint bank statements, lease agreements, and insurance policies.

In November 2023, our client achieved a significant milestone – he became a naturalized U.S. citizen. This change in status prompted the legal team to act swiftly, submitting a letter to USCIS requesting an update to our client’s petition from Lawful Permanent Resident to Immediate Relative of a U.S. citizen. The response from USCIS was swift and positive.

Less than two weeks after the request, the couple received the eagerly awaited approval notice for the I-130 petition in December 2023. The approval set the stage for the final chapter in their immigration journey.

With the I-130 approved, the Beneficiary is now in the process of applying for I-485 Adjustment of Status, bringing them one step closer to realizing their dream of building a life together in the United States.
