As we end 2023, we are honored to share with you this special story of our first client who opened a pathway for thousands of immigrants to be helped.
Our young client came to the United States after a horrific tragedy in his home country in Central America. When he came to us, McBean Law did not exist. At the time, Attorney Pompy was only a volunteer at an organization that helped refugee children from Central America.
The organization assigned our client’s asylum pro bono case to Attorney Pompy and she began to work on his removal case. She prepared his asylum application and developed an interest in immigration law through that case. She then founded McBean Law to help more immigrants obtain lawful status in the United States.
While our client’s removal case was pending, we worked with an attorney to obtain an Order of Guardianship for his mother so that he could become eligible for the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) pathway to a green card. We then prepared his Special Immigrant Juvenile Status case and USCIS approved our case.
Our young client’s removal case was eventually terminated after we obtained an approval from the Immigration Judge to dismiss the case.
This pro bono case opened the door for McBean Law to be formed and the privilege of helping over 7,000 immigrants. We are looking forward to helping many more immigrants in 2024!
