This success story involves our client who held asylee status and is now a permanent resident of the United States.
He scheduled a consultation with us in September 2022.
He was granted asylum and wished to pursue adjustment of status to become a legal permanent resident.
He sought refuge in the United States due to his legitimate fear of persecution in Nigeria.
However, he was concerned about his chances of success during the green card application process.
Before coming to the U.S. and before he was granted asylum, he provided fraudulent information on his visa application.
This misrepresentation could have resulted in severe consequences, including the denial of his green card application.
Our team embarked on an exhaustive effort to put together a strong I-602 Application by Refugee for Waiver of Inadmissibility Grounds.
The lead attorney prepared a legal memorandum which argued that the inadmissibility ground of misrepresentation appeared to be related to our client’s manner of entry to seek protection in the United States.
However, if USCIS determines otherwise, the waiver should be approved based on humanitarian and public interest grounds.
We meticulously documented our client’s rehabilitation efforts, his contributions to the community, and the compelling reasons why it was in the best interests of the United States to grant him a green card.
We provided evidence in support of the waiver, including a declaration, medical records, financial statements, bills, and compelling letters of support.
We submitted the client’s I-485 Adjustment of Status Application and Waiver in November 2022.
In less than a year, our client received the news of his green card approval!
He became a legal permanent resident in August 2023.
It has been an honor to have played a role in our client’s successful journey to permanent residency.
