We take immense pride in being part of our clients’ journey towards achieving their immigration goals. Our client from Jamaica, originally only intended to visit the United States, now stands proudly as a permanent resident.
The story began in August 2011 when the couple first met. What started as a chance meeting blossomed into a beautiful relationship, with the Couple officially dating in January 2012. Fast forward to 2016, when the Petitioner migrated to the United States as a legal permanent resident (LPR), laying the groundwork for their future together. In 2017, the couple exchanged vows in a heartwarming ceremony in the United States.
At that time, the Beneficiary was only a visitor in the U.S. when they got married. Through the years, the Couple’s commitment was evident in their efforts to maintain their relationship across continents. They found solace in the moments they spent together during visits. In one of the Beneficiary’s visits in January 2022, the Couple approached us for an I-130 Petition for Alien Relative, with the aim of securing legal status for the Jamaican spouse.
While the initial plan did not involve adjusting status, a thorough analysis of the case revealed a new and promising opportunity. The Petitioner naturalized in April 2022, allowing the foreign spouse to adjust status without having to wait for his priority date to be current and without leaving the United States. The I-130 Petition was approved in March 2023, validating the authenticity of the couple’s relationship.
Finally, in October 2023, the Beneficiary’s I-485 Adjustment of Status Application was approved, cementing the husband’s status as a permanent resident of the United States. Our clients are now entering a new chapter of their lives together.
The foreign spouse, now a permanent resident, can fully embrace life alongside his wife in the United States.
