Daughter’s Waiver Is Approved!

When the Client met with us in March 2021, she was under a lot of stress – she missed her daughter dearly. The family endured a civil war in Liberia many years ago. They fled to Ghana for safety and resettlement. The client later came to the US and became a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR).

However, her daughter was still in Ghana, and they had not seen each other in many years. She filed for her daughter in 2016. Her I-130 petition was quickly approved in 2017 under the F2A preference category (unmarried children under 21 of LPR). In 2018, the daughter had a visa interview , but the US embassy refused her visa.

The embassy cited “misrepresentation” as the reason for refusing the visa. The embassy officer was concerned about the daughter’s birth certificate and passport, which were not authentic. The documents also had a different date of birth. The mother and daughter hired us to assess the case and determine whether the daughter could obtain her visa.

After the case assessment, we concluded that her daughter is eligible for a waiver despite the severity of the immigration fraud and misrepresentation. To obtain an approval, we did not cut any corners. We got to the bottom of things and explained the circumstances of the fraudulent documents. We also obtained strong evidence to prove extreme hardship to the mother. We filed our I-601 waiver in September 2021.

The case was approved in December 2022!

P.S. Every case is different. Past successes do not guarantee similar future outcomes. Consult with a licensed immigration lawyer to discuss your unique situation.
