We are thrilled to share the incredible journey of our client from Nigeria who, after 22 years, has received the long-awaited Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony.
In 2001, our client arrived in the U.S. as a visitor, facing the challenge of finding a pathway to permanent resident status. For many years, he stayed behind the scenes, waiting for an opportunity. Luck turned in his favor when his son won the Diversity Visa Lottery, securing permanent residency in the United States.
When the son became a naturalized citizen, he filed a petition for his father, paving the way for our client to become a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) in 2016.
In January 2023, our client approached our firm with the goal of navigating the naturalization process. Concerns about a missed tax filing year were addressed, and after determining that it wasn’t a barrier, we advised him to proceed with the naturalization application. Following a thorough review and ensuring all statutory requirements were met, we filed the N400 Application for Naturalization on behalf of our client in September 2023.
His journey reached a crucial milestone when our client attended his Naturalization Interview in January 2024. The excitement peaked as our client received the Notice for Naturalization Oath Ceremony less than a week after the interview, signaling the final step toward U.S. citizenship.
With naturalization achieved, our client’s primary goal is to expedite the processing of his adopted son’s petition, now benefiting from a faster track than if he remained a Lawful Permanent Resident.
